Hurricane, New Orleans Style ingredients:

to be served in a:

Bacardi Light Rum® (1 oz. / 3.0 cl)

Bacardi 151® (1 oz. / 3.0 cl)

Orange Juice (3 oz. / 9.0 cl)

Pineapple Juice (3 oz. / 9.0 cl)

Grenadine (1/2 oz. / 1.5 cl)

Crushed Ice

Hurricane Glass

 
 

Hurricane, New Orleans Style recipe:

 

Combine all ingredients, mix well (shake or stir). Pour over crushed ice in Hurricane glass. Best enjoyed through small straw. Garnish with fruit wedge if desired.

Most recipes i've seen for a hurricane use passionfruit syrup/juice in place of the pineapple mentioned here, and also include some sort of lime. The light/dark rum combination is the important ingredient though. It's a great drink, but can be a bit sweet if you add too much grenadine. I normally make it much stronger than suggested here, with about a 50/50 split of soft/alcohol content, and with a 65/35 split on dark/light rum because i prefer dark rum.
